Nowadays the job and role of the English language teacher has changed, in part because the world has changed. It’s no longer our job to just teach grammar and vocabulary and the four traditional skills. We need to teach them about the world and we need to introduce them to new ideas, new ways of looking at things. In other words, we need to teach them to be 21st century thinkers. In this session we’ll explore what exactly we mean by critical thinking, why it’s important and how, using National Geographic Learning’s Perspectives series, we can seamlessly incorporate critical thinking into our teaching; and in doing so develop the next generation of critical thinkers.
